Rustam Ponomariov scores a big win against Peter Leko's own favorite game, the Marshall Attack while Shakhriyar Mamedyarov played a very solid game of Sicilian Scheveningen to beat Kamsky. Shirov displayed a solid defense against the tournament leader, Alexander Morozevich and held him for a draw after 44th moves of yet another Sicilian Scheven, former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik also drew his match against Vassily Ivanchuck from his favorite Petroff, and the longest match of the day saw Boris Gelfand and Evgeny Alkseev also drew their match after 52nd moves of the Catalan.
