The first chess hero of Asia and the Philippines is back

Asia's first Grandmaster wins his first major international tournament in years by bagging the 3rd edition of PGMA cup chess championship here in Manila. Torre drew with GM Ehsan Ghaemmaghami of Iran in the ninth and final round but win the tournament when he edges last year’s champion GM Li Chao of China and Zhang Zhong of Singapore in the tiebreak. Torre garnered a total of 2572 tiebreak points against Li’s 2533 and Zhang’s 2532.
