1st Dragon Capital Vietnam Open chess championship: Wesley So finished third



So settled for a draw with fellow Filipino IM Rolando Nolte in just 14th moves of the Nimzoindian in the eighth round and then pummeled GM Marat Dzumaev of Uzbekistan in the ninth and final round to finish in a two-way tie for second to third places but wound up in third after a tie break with GM Zurab Azmaiparashvili of Georgia 48-49. Overall, So finished the tournament with four wins and five draws for a total of 6.5 points, half a point behind solo champion GM Le Quang Liem of Vietnam.
