THE one-day non-master chess tournament offers P10,000 plus trophy to the champion supposed to be held on October 18 at the SM Manila has been reset to October 25 in the same venue.
The chess tournament was reset in order to accommodate more participants who suffered from the devastation of two typhoon who hits the country (Typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng), according to Adamson University head coach Christopher Rodriguez, member of the organizing group of One Manila Non-Master Chess Tournament dubbed as "Tulak Mo...Sulong Ko”,Seven round Swiss-system event.
“Nagdesisyon ang organizing group sa panibagong petsa ng chess tournament sa SM Manila para mabigyan ng pagkakataon na makalahok an gating mga kababayan na chess player. Karamihan kasi sa mga kababayan natin na chess player ay talagang naapektuhan din ng bagyong Ondoy at Pepeng” Rodriguez added.
Two more local chess event has been postponed because of the Typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng.
They are the 1st Alex S. Belena Non-Master Rapid Chess Tournament scheduled on Saturday at the PAG-ASA Sport Complex, San Jose City Nueva Ecija and 2-in-1 Non-Master Rapid Chess Tournament scheduled yesterday (Sunday) at the Ramon Magsaysay (Cubao) High School, Cubao, Quezon City.
