Another player to watch from the tournament is current world junior champion, Abhijeet Gupta (2584) who also won his first game of the tournament against 34th seed Efren Bagamasbad (2311). GM Eugenio Torre (2535), who pulled out in round 7 of the PGMA cup due to bad showing, was held to a draw, perhaps not a surprise anymore, by Rolando Andador (2260).
