I personally believed that the status of chess in the Philippines is on the right track. For three reasons:
First, with our present officials in the federation (especially Cong. Prospero Pichay) I think we can now host international tournaments in the country where our young and aspiring players don't need to go abroad to compete and hone their skills.
Second, we have available players who can represent the country in international competetion like the Olympiad, Asian team championship among others.
Third, the most important development in chess is that we have bright future because of the emergence of our World Champion contender none other than the Chairman (Wesley So).
