The match between top seed Magnus Carlsen of Norway and Peter Svidler of Russia ended in a truce after 43 moves of the Ruy Lopez/Open Variation. It was a sorry draw for Svidler who had his chances against the top seed in the end game but wasn't able to capitalize them.
